Sugar Bowl in Des Plaines

Had a family gathering for brunch on Sunday without a reservation. As we filed in, the staff was accommodating. About a 20 minute wait, but not bad for 10 People. The country Benedict is really tasty, they know how to poach an egg!

Very nice service and the food was delicious, we had a skillet and a wrap and both were really tasty, but the stuffed French toast was superb!!

Went for breakfast, all 6 of us had fantastic meals, prices are decent, inside is updated and very clean. Love this place

Charged me an extra 2 dollars on all items. When I told them I see different prices the lady's toned changed and said I just charges what my manager told me. Didn't even double check if the prices are correct. Charged me two dollars for extra banana and it was only around four slices. I got charged over 13 dollars for two slices of french toast with a couple slices of banana. I will never order out again. Dine in and that's it.

The service at this diner is excellent, and one of the reasons my rating is not lower. I went to eat here with my family, we had the eggs Benedict, waffle, and 2 egg breakfast combo. The waffle was good and my child enjoyed it. The combo was solid, the only thing is that they cook the bacon very well done, so if you don't like this make sure to mention it ahead of time. My eggs Benedict were not the best. The eggs were prepared well but they really skimped on the hollandaise sauce. The Canadian bacon and English muffins tasted freezer burnt, as if they had been left in there uncovered. They also serve ridiculously small drinks. The fresh squeezed orange juice I ordered was so small, and I asked for the large. It was comical. The food is slightly overpriced for the quality, and especially for the portions (minus the waffle.) All in all, just an okay diner a stones throw from much better options.

Came here for brunch with a friend. The staff is super friendly. The atmosphere is nice. The food was fresh and came in a timely manner. Only disappointment was I wanted sausage patties and they only had links and so I got the bacon and asked for it medium not too crispy and it came to the table really wobbly. Yuck! The prices are a little high for breakfast food. Would I come again? Probably once construction is over but if there's no parking on the side I will go elsewhere. All in all I would go back and try lunch

We've been coming here for breakfast for years. Great fresh food. Great customer service. They will always welcome you with a big smile and sometimes even a hug :-)

Delicious meal's & good customer service

Excellent SERVICE. My Philly cheeseburger was the best burger I've had in a long time. Loved the chinken dumpling soup and the cottage fries. Great place and great value.

Great service top to bottom,from the host, to the wait staff and the buss team. All prefromed excellently not only in their jobs, but in creating an environment that is both friendly and comfortable. The food is top notch and served promptly and has never failed to impress

My Saturday morning breakfast joint. Great selection of breakfast and lunch meals. Fast service and the coffee cup is always kept full.

Great food! Must wear mask when entering and exiting, but while your at your table you can take it off and be comfortable. No need to worry about social distancing. They seated everyone one whole table away. Perfect. Thank you.

Always a great breakfast and brunch spot. They get very busy on the weekends, so prepare to wait. Great food, and a variety of menu options to choose from. Very friendly staff.

They have the best waffles I have ever tried. The omelets are amazing as well. The staff it's very friendly and the service was fast. Also I have placed orders for to go from here and was never dissapointed. Great little place

Greeted promptly and seated quickly, but then decided to move tables because the table we sat at had a major wobbling-rocking motion issue.Served water and coffee immediately.A few minutes later, Vicky came by to take our order. We ordered the House Crepes and a Denver Omelette. Everything was hot and delicious and served promptly. Coffee cups were always being refilled. Clean, bright restaurant that has a lot of history behind it. The ONLY disappointment was our expectations on the menu pricing. We downloaded the menu from their website before visiting, but their prices went up .75 to 1.20 + depending on what you order. They need to upload their current menu pricing, so as to not deceive the public.

Clean restaurant. Nice and accommodating staff. Love the food and the price is pretty reasonable and the portions are big. Too bad they aren't open till dinner, but that's okay.

Best service. The servers are always attentive to everyone coming in. I was welcome right away with great customer service. Good quality food and it looks very presentable.

Bland food. Got the breakfast burrito. Eggs had no seasoning, too much oil, hash was awful. No flavor at all. Def just a bland American diner. My friend ordered a turkey sandwich. He said it was ok.

Very old school dinner, staff very friendly and the pumpkin pancakes are delicious. Only complaint is the orange juice is 4 dollars for a small glass of tang drink mix.

This restaurant is my first choice place. Of all restaurants I know I love it most. I never miss an opportunity to go to that place. Whenever I feel like having a delicious lunchon, this restaurant comes straight to my mind. superb and many types of food and a large menu.well mannered team, and good ambience. Also, the cost is affordable. I tell about this spot with great pleasure.

Other than a tad chilly in the dining area I have nothing bad to say about Sugar Bowl Restaurant. Oh, check your map because it can be challenging to get to (and from) what with all the One-ways, railroad, No Turn signs, and road construction. The omelet was solid; pretty much just the right everything: temperature, amount and consistency. The greeter & servers are attentive, friendly, and accommodating. And, at ~$25 for the two of our breakfasts, not exorbitant.

We came to this restaurant for lunch. my friend recommended this place. Well, it was very nice. The staff members were extremely nice and we felt good. The meal was yummy. We had a great time and we will visit this place again. Warmly recommended.

This was our first time here...It was great service from everyone we came in contact with...Food was great, from the meat skillet, kids Mickey mouse pancakes and the turkey club...I must say that this place has a steady flow of customers as well...The lady at the register when leaving was super kind as well...We will be back...

Pretty, accommodating and warm staff. I ordered the Italian skillet which was delicious. Televisions if you want to get acquainted with the latest news blend into the background or perfect place to catch up with old friends.

Just honest diner food. I had a hot sandwich, a cup of soup, and a coffee. They were very accommodating of time constraints. They must be used to people having to leave quickly to catch the train. I was in and out in 15 minutes.

This is my favorite restaurant in town. Best breakfast ever. And the staff makes me feel so important. Stay safe:)

Food was very good and nice portions at a great price. The service was excellent. My wife and I had skillets and they were tasty. If you are looking for a great Breakfast this is the place to go. They also serve lunch and I have had lunch twice there and you can't go wrong. Try it you will say the same thing.

The sugar bowl is a great place to get brunch food. I went there around noon but was craving breakfast so I got the Mediterranean frittata which came with two pancakes and hash browns for under $10! The food was exceptional but a little under seasoned, no worries though they had salt & pepper at the table along with ketchup, Cholula hot sauce, butter, and maple syrup for the pancakes. The hostess and waitress were very kind and the service was extremely quick. Definitely recommend coming to try out the food & I'll definitely be back to try their other menu items.

A staple of Des Plaines, the Sugar Bowl has great breakfast and lunch food! Also good and friendly service!

Like a time travel experience with such nice hostess

Love this place! I’ve probably made my way here about 5 times for breakfast. I always opt for the skillets and pancakes. It’s a quaint breakfast spot with great food and even better prices. I love the location being in the heart of downtown des plaines. I need to try out their lunch menu!

Had a fantastic experience in this spot with my wife. The food comes quick and the service is just good. Prices are affordable.

This is a great place. Very pleasant family atmosphere, with excellent food, service, and free parking. I had planned to take a picture prior to masticating , but I couldn't stop my hands after I took sent of their fluffy pancakes. Incase you haven't picked up on it, I really liked this place oh, and long winded.

Hits the spot every time. Friendly staff, a funny and kind owner who is always here checking up on everyone, and great food. To top all of it great 60’s and other music softly playing over all the white noise of the dining area.

The service is consistently speedy, lovely atmosphere, super nice staff. I will eat here again when I arrive in town.

Good food. Staff is very good they always keep your drink filled, food out quickly. The scramblers and skillets are always good choice here.
